Nugget Lodge to Invercargill

Another great drive for the first couple of hours, we only drive slowly as there is NO traffic on these roads and you can go for half an hour perhaps seeing one or two cars.

We went through several beautiful Scenic Reserves with high hills covered with trees and bushes with the road changing direction every 100 metres or so. We enjoyed the journey but as we got nearer to Invercargill the scenery got flatter and less interesting.

We did some minor food shopping, had a brief lunch at a ‘SUBWAY’ and then headed off for the Bavarian Motel. I had quite a few photos to upload and so we left the pc running and headed down town. Invercargill is a bit uninspiring but nice. The ‘Queens Park’ Garden is really quite impressive and the aviary had some native birds locked up. I always feel sorry for the animals being kept in cages as it reminded me sometimes of the office!!

After that there was really not too much to see and ‘The Rough Guide to New Zealand’ was just about right in its description of this City, nice but don’t spend time here.

We headed back to the motel to catch up on two days of Photos and Blog’s as Nugget point had no Internet connection.

Tomorrow we head for Bluff where we will leave the car and spend three nights on Stewart Island which we are really looking forward to.
