The heavy rain was still coming down as we awoke at about 0800 and had a cup of tea then finished our packing and made it available for someone to collect only the lift had broken down the previous day, lots of steps for us, so we took down all we could and planned to ask the staff for assistance but they were rather busy and the engineers were there from the lift company and it was suggested that we have breakfast and then hopefully the lift will be fixed which it was. The car had been brought from the garage and so we were able to leave the Hotel at around 10.00 as the heavens opened again and we thanked ourselves that ten minutes later all would have been soaked loading the car. At this stage I must comment that the Hotel was really great and we would easily stay there again with modern rooms and excellent staff it was a pleasure to stay there. For more info see the link

We had planned that we would not go on the motorways and tolls roads today as there was only about an hours difference in timing and so we avoided all the heavy goods vehicles kicking up spray and the motorways would have rain restrictions anyway but our decision was the correct one as we had a really nice journey thro the mountains reaching nearly 2300 mtrs in the clouds. Jennifer took a lot of photos from the car and now we just need time to sort them and upload to the various blogs in the coming days. Both the last part of Italy and the first part of Austria the sun had started to shine and it was really lovely to see the hills and chalet style houses going up the side of the various mountains.
We stopped for lunch in a little lay by as the cars rushed by and then continued our journey to Innsbruck where we arrived at about 1545 and checked in the Tivoli Hotel which has just joined the Hilton Group, they need to some work as the place is empty. For sinner we had thought of using the so called Bistro bar but the menu was so limited pretty much frozen pizzas and a baguette and so we decided against that. Using Trip Adviser we found an Asian style restaurant about 300 metres from the Hotel and so went there and explained about Noels issues and they were most helpful and of course restricted what he ate whilst Jennifer had the complete choice which she enjoyed as did I.
Following dinner we went back to the Hotel and sat in the empty bar and did some travel planning for the next few days and subject to the weather holding up it should be good. The Noel did his blogs whilst Jennifer read before turning in.
