20th October-Leaving Las Vegas

A slow start after a rather late night and some re-packing to make it easier for travel rather than having to take several suitcases in to a Hotel we have one which we share and use the others as general storage and leave in the car. We also brought our car plug-in cooler box as we often avoid eating out and therefore visit supermarkets and eat in the room; this works well and is a lot cheaper whilst you do get fed up of visiting restaurants.
We drove a short way and then decided we would not wait for later to have breakfast and therefore stopped at the Lake Village and visited the same place as yesterday for a nice and inexpensive start to the day and to build up energy levels. With this time change it does take a little while to get fully adjusted and a good breakfast really helps.

We followed the roads round the side of Las Vegas and on to the highway Interstate 15 and kept up a good speed until we reached a place called St George where we stopped for coffee and did some serious food shopping after having completed 125 miles. From there we followed the signs to Red Rock Canyon where we purchased our US State Park yearly membership and then drove through some most fantastic scenery you have ever seen. We have been here before some years ago and although we could have easily stayed around for a while we did need to move on as we have other State Parks to visit.
We passed by Bryce Canyon State Park and continued North to our Hotel in a small place, one dog and one cat and no pub, and checked in for two nights.
After a bit of a sort out we opened a bottle of Kirkland (Costco) Sonoma County and dived in to the fried chicken and salads purchased earlier and it was very good. Time to do some blogging…..
