Time flies when you are having fun
they say, but the weather until the 17th June was still rubbish
however Joanne and Tim are due to arrive today and the weather looks like it
improving. J & T arrived around 5.30 pm after an uneventful journey via
Newhaven-Dieppe and we all joined in to put up the tent and so one hour later
we were all ready for the BBQ.
Costco steaks, sausages and some
ribs from Leclerc made up the dinner but we started with some fresh prawns and
a glass of bubbly to welcome them.
The plan was for them to do whatever
they wanted and if they wished to tie up for breakfast, lunch or dinner they
would but we have planned a dinner out the night before they leave. The sun has
started to shine and it is getting warmer but the weather is quite unsettled.
Suddenly on Wednesday 20th
we awoke to amazing warmth and blue skies and so today we all went to the Cerza
Safari Park which is located half way between us and Lisieux and for approx. £
15.00 each it’s pretty good value. It is set in a lovely valley with hills
surrounding and the site is quite large with quite a good selection of animals,
see photos on Phanfare for a good idea of what is there.
We had a sandwich lunch and then
went on the ‘petit train’ ride around the site and overall we had a good day
out.
One bit of not so good news is that
we appear to have a minor leak on the roof at the back and Jennifer suddenly
noticed that one of her dresses was damp and there was a water mark on her nice
white jacket. A borrowed ladder and an inspection did not help and so a call to
our guys who do the servicing and at least the van is still covered by it’s
water ingress guarantee, but only just, so let’s see what happens when we get
home and have it checked. We had thought of leaving the van here and returning
after the wedding but now we cannot do this as it needs to be repaired before
its gets worse. Just when you thought it was safe to go in to the water!!!.
J& T are on their last full day
at camp and it rained heavily overnight and also several times during the day
and so they have gone shopping in the hypermarkets, just the thing we did a
couple of weeks ago.
Tonight we are all going out to
dinner in the nearby town at a restaurant where we have eaten before and we are
all looking forward to this. When writing this, it is about 1.30 pm and the
clouds have come and the sky is rumbling with thunder and its starting to rain
heavily again, bloody great. Let’s hope it’s not too wet when we help them pack
their tent tomorrow lunchtime.
