Wed 13 th Jan- A nice day out

It was very cold again last night and there was frost on the grass outside the condo but we understand that the heat is on the way back, at least the sun was up and shining bright.

Our plan today was to go down town for a walkabout and also find a WIFI location so as to send and receive our emails. We have borrowed a TomTom SatNav from our friends in Indian Shores and were anxious to try it out and so Jennifer set it to St Armands Circle. So off we went following the instructions to the letter and apart from a late call to turn right when we were 5 yards from the right turn. Turning late at 35 mph can upset the drivers behind a little as there was the odd horn blowing.

We arrived OK and had a good walk round, down to the beach which was empty of people but the white sand in the sun looked enticing and we would have gone swimming but we had forgotten our swim suits. However this may be an excuse as the temp in the sea is around 10 degrees and perhaps a little chill.

We had lunch in a cafe that we visited last time we were here, the sandwiches are very good, before taking a short walk to Ben & Jerry's ice cream parlour. We thought we'd see if they had any ice cream left, which they did, so we enjoyed the tasting very much. Then off to downtown Sarasota where we visited the Whole Foods supermarket, Jen did some food shopping and Noel used the free internet connection for a short while. This is a great shop, they also have a chain in and around London and they specialise in organic products, they are a little expensive but oh so good. Next, off to the Publix Supermarket near our house for some final shopping of the day. We wished to purchase some fish and the guy behind the fish counter looked rather old to be there, anyway at the check-out I recognised the guy that bags the food from our last visit three years ago and starting chatting to him, he remembered us as well. He is not so young either and so I asked him how old he was and he said he was 85 but Jack on the fish counter is 92. Wow this is great for the old folks who can still get a job at that age and no doubt it keeps them active and the brain working, we should try this at home and get rid of the illegals.

Tonight we have planned a Salmon and Shrimp salad with a little Pinot Grigio to wash it down.

It was a lovely day out and let's hope tomorrow is warmer.
