It is Noels birthday today and we decided to take a day out as the weather forecast was good. Last week we used the train and did plan to use the train again but after last week's crowding experience we returned to the four wheel transport mode for the day.
Neither of us had been to Eastbourne for quite some while and so this was chosen for the day out. We took the quick route there with a plan to take the country route on the way home. Upon arrival in Eastbourne we went directly to purchase our tickets for the afternoon bandstand performance which we had seen was taking place in the internet. Then a long walk along the seafront towards Beachy Head and then back the other way towards the Pavilion and then back through the town centre which was quite busy by this time.
We did a little shopping in Boots, which by the way was a very large one indeed, and then headed back towards our reservation for lunch at the famous Harry Ramsden's Fish and Chip shop. The lunch together with a bottle of Chardonnay was excellent and then we headed for another walk before arriving at the Bandstand on the beachfront. It was the Wealden Brass Band playing a selection of Show and film tunes and it lasted about 90 minutes. Sitting in the sun after a great lunch and listening to a brass band is a lovely way to spend a birthday.
We departed Eastbourne via Beachy Head and then took a lovely country route home and avoided any possible traffic jams. We arrived home around 7.30 pm after a 'cracking day out'
