Friday14th April Good Friday..

We left Las Vegas with a cloudy sky and rain promised for later. Our route was going to take us thro' Death Valley to Lone Pine, California. Death Valley was an interesting mix of hilly terrain with a tremendous variety of coloured rock formations and when you consider how old this landscape is it is well worth stopping to explore.
We stopped at a petrol station to top up the petrol tank and while enjoying a coffee found out that the couple sitting next to us were from the Midlands. They are doing a two week tour and were unsure whether to go to San Francisco as the weather in that area has been bad. They were obviously missing home as they were tucking into two eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage and beans. Can't blame them as they were taking their first trip without their children and had rented an open top Ford Mustang , talk about midlife crisis. Been there and done that!
Arrived in Lone Pine and staying at the motel that I stayed in, in 1982 when on a 'topless calender shoot' for my company based in Hong Kong. Oh! those were the days with three semi naked women around me for a week....Sorry must stop as Jennifer is watching!!
Dinner was great in a restaurant which was totally unexpected in this place. Jennifer had Elk (imported from New Zealand not local but tasted great) and I had Salmon, a really good restaurant and so we haved booked again for tomorrow night.
And so to bed
