A busy weekend

Well what with the Motor racing in Austria and the football plus taking down the sides of the awning in anticipation of our departure it’s been a busy time in the the caravan household.

On the Formula One front we watched qualifying on the Saturday and then the full race on Sunday, Mercedes new engine seems to have a problem as both cars broke down which is never really known to happen with them. By contrast the Ferrari cars which have had quite a few breakdown over the last couple of years ran very well and were only just beaten by Van Der Stappen of Red Bull. good to see them win their home race. Due to everybody else having problems McLaren and Alonso did well considering he started from the pit lane. Well done him.

With regard to the football, well Argentina, Spain and Portugal and the surprise of Germany leaving was a little overpowering and hopefully England does not go the same way. There were two games that went to extra time and with Russia playing a full defensive wall including two of Mourinho’s buses they were able to hold back the flow of Spanish who in the end had no idea how to penetrate the defence. Extra time came and went and on to penalties and the Russian Goalie is now a national hero after saving two penalty shots and so Russia go through.

Mrs Merkel was to a degree helped by the EU with regard to the immigration crisis which to a large extent she created and they came up with a solution which it now appears did not receive full support and so a number of countries are saying , No Way and the Senior Bavarian Politician said he would now resign as Mrs Merkel a has not achieved what they wanted and so it should be a little bit of fun to see now what happens.

We have been watching the weather forecast for the last few days so that we can decide when is the best time to take down the awning. So on Saturday we took down the sides after giving all the windows ad good clean and put them away and with the plan to take the rest of the awning down on Sunday evening but lo and behold the weather forecast was almost right and we had thunder and lightning and quite a it of rain and so it was not possible to do if so it must be left for Monday. There are also chairs to pack and many other items which w seem to bring mind you we do come for quite a while and so the need for many things is required.

On Monday night we are having dinner in the Creperie with Ingrid, Jan and Andre (the two Dutch guys) and then on Tuesday we will prepare the van for departure on Wednesday. So tires to checked and also the wheel nuts on the caravan are required to be checked to the correct newton tension. We usual close down the water system one night before departure and so there would only be the gas and electric to be turned off and the loo emptied on our departure day.

Well over the next couple of days there is still some decent football to watch and so we will leave the satellite dish until last.

So I am going to finish this Blog today for this trip as most of what will happen  over the next few days has been covered. One last thing however is we plan to leave the site around 10.30 on Wednesday the 4th and get to Caen around 12.00 ish in time for our 14.00 hrs ferry to Portsmouth at 19.15. We hope, all being well and on time, to be back at Weybridge around 21.30 hrs.
